An Adventureland Wedding

I totally forgot that Stacy's bridal shower is next week. The actual wedding invitation arrived in the mail today and I was completely touched by the fact that it was addressed to "MaryAnn and Owen."

Idk. I was expecting a "MaryAnn + 1," you know? This silly little card makes me so stupidly happy just because it has our names in fancy print, like it's official that we are "Mary and Owen" and "Owen and Mary" and it's a package deal and not only does everyone know it, but they think it too.

I mean, they could have very easily sent us each our own invitation. It's an Adventureland wedding, so we know the bride and the groom equally well and vice versa. Owen used to work at the same ride as the groom, and I just kinda knew them both from being a pseudo-lifer, having worked in the park long enough to know pretty much everyone at least a little bit, and then the groom was my supervisor for a little while (no, it's not Gabe, but he's the best man) and the bride and I were both managers at the same time and tended to sit next to each other during manager meetings to talk smack on the Splash Zone and the Kiddieland teams because everyone hates them...except guests. So, every meeting was an endless parade of "GOLD STAR FOR THE RACCOON RACE TEAM" while the rest of us are like, "Fuck-off-and-die-violently."

Man, good times.

I'm really stoked for this wedding. An Adventureland wedding! It would have been more adorable if they were getting married at the park, but I mentioned it to the groom once in jest and he said he'd rather stab himself in the eye. But still, the wedding party, most of the guests...there's actually some concern that so many employees are going to need the day off that it's going to turn into Park Drama.

I love Park Drama. Especially when it's not my fault for once.

But aw, this invite, I keep looking at it and smiling and running my fingers over the ink. I sent Owen a picture and he said I was a dork.

LOL, awesome. That sounds just like all my best friend's summers growing up doing the lifeguard thing at Adventure Island. By the time I got sucked into parkdom, it was at Busch. Park Drama is indeed fun, and much more widespread than people would probably believe. :)

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, oh I'm sure. We have a waterpark attached to our regular park, so it's like, double the drama, double the fun. It's great. XD

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds awesome. Make sure that when you get married, you invite me. Or like, at least send me an invitation. I'll be there in spirit, and if it's not too near in the future, I'll totally be there.

^___^

I hope your day is going okay.

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Decent enough. Bored out of my mind. How are you?

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm good. I've just spent the day so far running around filling prescriptions for Paul, buying food for tea and cleaning the goldfish out.

Would quite like to go to sleep now though - I drank a whole load of water with some salad for lunch, and now my stomach feels bloated, ick. I'm going to do some writing now though, be productive. *Nod*

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Productive! Good! I got to work early today so (hopefully) I can leave early. That was the plan yesterday and I ended up getting detained for twenty minutes. I have to go get a present for my friend's bridal shower. It's on Sunday and I don't want to get stuck buying the $200 silk sheets or whatever. SORRY. Heh.

It looks like she'll be getting a flat grill or a coffeemaker from me because I'm poor and I totally didn't realize that the shower is on SUNDAY because I'm also a procrastinator. I'd also rather go to the bachelor party. Whatever. I mean, it's not that I'm not excited for Stacy, but it's like, I'd rather watch the guys get sloppy and make asses of themselves than sit in a church basement drinking lemonade and pretending to be excited about cupcake molds.

I'm totally trying to be productive on the side today.

Lunch in an hour! Thank god. I'm starving. <3

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
We do wedding gift lists where I work and the amount of people who come in asking to buy the cheapest thing off the list e.g. five face towels... it's unreal. People are so stingy, but y'know, I'd be down there with them.

I completely understand your sentiment though with the whole 'rather be at the bachelor party'. It could get messy though, could you handle that? Wait... don't answer. I know you love rolling around in mud.

I saw you replied to my comment at like 9-something in the morning my time. I wasn't even awake then! *Shudder* I need to get a clock and set it to your time so I can remember the time difference better. Google says it's 10:17am - is he right? (Or was he, whatever).

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol. I'm not scraping the bottom of the list! I was just worried that procrastinating like I did, I'd have no choice but to dish out for the really expensive gift. Bleh.

I can totally handle messy, haha. And I've never been in a strip club before! I feel like I'm missing out on an important experience.

Google was right! Now it's almost 11. Almost lunch time. SO CLOSE. NOM.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
;-) I didn't mean to sound like I thought you were being cheap, heh.

You totally need to suggest strip club for whoever has a birthday coming up. I go past one every time I go to the theatre - Legs 11 - but it looks too creepy and shady. Imagine all the pervy guys...

Lunch is almost within your grasp. Almost.

I'm making some progress with my writing, working on something for the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time challenge. Drunk!Dean and Drunk!Sam are fun to play with. Of course, Dean's totally slaughtered and falling on his face, whereas Sam is just fairly drunk and trying not to grin and laugh too much. <3

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the drunk boys! Aww. I <3 hoodie_time too. I always write for oh_sam because bleeding!Sammy is my crack....I need to branch out, lol.

There's a strip club a block away from my high school. The Lakeside Lounge. It's SO sketchy. Someone got shot there when I was a senior. I need to go there. Heh.

One of my friends in college was a stripper at a place called the Coconut Grove. She always wanted us to come visit, but we never managed to.

Alright. FOOD TIME NOW. Back in a bit!

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, enjoy lunch! *Hugs*

I've posted at both lately as my love for Sam has been growing. I stumbled upon LJ as a complete Dean!girl, but now I'm branching out and it's fun.

Your friend was a stripper? Awesome. You totally should have visited.

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I find that I'm more bi!bro in my sentiments towards them both on Show, especially lately. I've definitely evened out because in the beginning, I was all SAMMY!love all the time, and then, by s4, I was all DEAN!love, and s5 was all D: WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG???

Heh. My mentality for s6 is that they're both morons but we still love them.

When it comes to my whump though...its ALWAYS Sam. ALWAYS. I'm totally open to whumping Dean...but I always seem to need someone to show me the whumped Dean, whereas, I tend to look for whumped Sam on my own. IDK.

Yeeeah. Stripper. I'm kinda sorry we never visited.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
My google searches are always 'Dean' and 'Sam' and '
[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<insert [...] injury/trauma>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

My google searches are always 'Dean' and 'Sam' and '<insert injury/trauma of the day>' - I take what I can get and love it all!

Ugh. *Snuggles* my after-lunch bloatedness has turned into feeling really sick. Y'know when you feel like you need to be sick to be better. :-(

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. I've actually stopped leaving my searches up when I'm not home even though I live alone (except for my bitchy cat, Miri, which is short for Marie Antoinette, named as such because she likes to shove her head under the recliner when someone is about to lower it, ahem) because I'm worried about getting t-boned by a truck and having people come to my apartment, jump on my computer, and think, "Man, she's crazy."

But uh...yeah. My searches are similar. Lol. I actually have to bug spn_storyfinders (once I work up the courage to do it) because there are two stories that I read a bazillion months ago that were SO GOOD and I want to read them again and no amount of magical google-fu is getting me anywhere, so I am sad.

*pets* I know exactly what you mean. I tend to get that way when I'm hungover. In fact, at one point on Saturday, I was using the bag our sandwiches came in as a barf bag, and it smelled like mayo and onions and old lunch meat and I would take huge gulps of air just because I knew the smell would make me yak, but I'd feel SO MUCH BETTER afterwards.

I hope you feel better though. It's extra sucky when you're just ILL and not ill as the result of an awesome night preceeding the sick.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The trouble is, I don't know if it is because I drank for two consecutive nights, but then... that doesn't make sense because I felt fine until lunchtime. I don't know, but it sucks. I've literally been sleeping since around six; I read your disgusting comment about the sandwich bag and that helped me feel worse, but then I just fell asleep with the 'sick bowl' next to me in bed.

Paul's out at college somewhere so he can't take care of me, but we did have a nap together earlier. I'm always the big spoon.

I delete my search history too. I figure I'm actually taking a risk with bookmarking all of these LJ communities and my own journal even, but it's all password protected anyway, and if he was snooping I'd get cross! :D

Miri is cute. It's like, Zack and Miri Makes a Porno. I liked that movie. "Can I get a coffee, black?", "can't you see I'm talking, white?" Some comedic moments in there.

*Lies in bed* Blehhh! I was even on a roll with writing now, and even typing is worse than just lying down. I'm sure I'll be okay tomorrow. Hopefully. >3

*Takes your Sammy to bed, rolls eyes at Dean standing in the corner*

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry I made you feel worse! That was a dumb comment. I don't think sometimes. Most of the time, in fact.

I like Zack and Miri Makes a Porno too. It's my favorite Kevin Smith movie, even moreso than Clerks, which is like, blasphemy or something. I just think it's hilarious and geeky and all the Pittsburghisms are spot on. Who knew you were in so many films, Pittsburgh? Who knew?

Soooo quoteable. Haha. The entire Black Friday speech is amazing and the Monroeville Zombies! I have a Monroeville Zombies t-shirt. I got it in homage to Zack and Miri and the mall itself being all steeped in glorious zombie history. There even used to be a zombie museum on the first floor...but it closed. I was totally crushed.

I have a thing for zombies. I <3 zombies. Eeee!

You can borrow Sammy. Dean can just deal with it. I hope you feel better soon. *hugs*

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I do feel better! Excuse the details, but my body decided to let me be sick, and now I feel okay! I'm tired and not sure if I should eat or not, but I just spent the last 45 minutes writing a fic for a comment fic meme, and yeah! I feel okay!

*Grin*

I think my imaginary-Sammy helped. <3

Are you home now? ^^

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
*happy dance*

I'm home! Trying to resist the urge to take a nap. Also, wishing there was a Starbucks or something closer to my apartment because I could really use a crazy chocolaty mocha espresso whatever. *sigh*

Comment-fic! Comment-fic is seriously one of my favorite flavors of fic. What meme is it for?

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. Chocolate Mocha ftw.

It's for the [livejournal.com profile] samdean_otp meme, although I only discovered that community today so I'm hardly a veteran! You should check out my fic, it has Sam getting beaten up by Dean and it's Gen. I wrote it 'cause it was a friend's prompt, but... fun times!

I just settled for regular coffee. :( I went to Target to get a gift for the bridal shower though, and they had STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE COFFEE and oooh gooood how I lusted for it...but it was like, $10/lb, so, maybe...some other time...*cries*

I need to play in that community more. Like, I know about it, but I never remember it. I want to check their meme out though. It keeps popping up on my friends page.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like awesome coffee! I'm watching SPN, s4's Yellow Fever. Dean is particularly adorable when he's scared of little dogs and kitties. Bless him. The meme doesn't have much going on at the moment, so maybe in a couple of days the fun will intensify.

It's midnight now but I don't know whether to eat or not - I kinda fancy some soup but don't want to be ill all night.

What did you get for the bridal shower?

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably amazing coffee. I know I'll probably cave by the end of the week and pick up a bag.

I love Yellow Fever. I love Dean's "We are insane" rant. Have you ever seen this fake movie trailer? I'm sliiiightly obsessed with fake movie trailers (Brokeback to the Future is my all-time fave though) and this one makes good use of the "we are insane rant.

I got Corningware dishes for the bridal shower. It's a full set of baking dishes. I like Corningware stuff myself, so, I felt it was a product I can really get behind.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
We just saw the 'insane' rant and were laughing. I think I've only ever seen this episode once before, and it's awesome.

I can't look at the fake trailer now, seeing as Paul is sitting over yonder and if I started playing something he'd think I'm strange, I will watch it tomorrow though!

You can't go wrong with bakeware. I see a lot of it at work, seeing as I work right by the kitchen department. I don't like it much as it means I have to wrap it up in bubble wrap, and dude, I hate wrapping. I turn my back and do it as discretely as possible.

Eeeep! Lillith is hugging Dean. I haven't seen her for ages.

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I love little girl Lilith! I think she's way more creepy/awesome when she's inhabiting small children.

Bakeware is pretty cool. I liked that it was the full set. Some of the stuff on their registry was only part of a set and personally, I'd feel kinda silly buying only part of a set, but there was no way I could afford full sets of like, china or silver.

I worked ever-so-briefly in a perfume store and I hated wrapping. If it was gift-wrapping, it took twenty tries for me to get the bow just the way the customer wanted (meanwhile, my line is getting longer and longer and longer) and if it was just bubble-wrap wrapping, either I used too much or not enough or whatever. I was not a fan of that job at all.

[identity profile] si-star-x.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that was a crazy night of sleeping! I feel heaps better today, but I kept waking up every few hours in the night, stretching a little, hugging Paul and then eventually drifting off again. I had some soup last night as well and that seemed to settle fine. *Nod*

To be fair, the guys at work always look at me for the wrapping - especially if somebody has wandered to our till with some ladies clothing. They always say 'I'll leave these to the professional' e.g. ME - but dudes, I can't fold?! Have you seen my wardrobe? Haha.

I hope you have a good day, thanks for being sympathetic with my crazy sick self yesterday. <3

That's so sweet. And I totally know what you mean about the card making it, like, official! Not sure why it should matter, since its just a fancy font and cardstock and ink, but it definitely does. <333

Also, this sounds like it's going to be an epic wedding. \O/

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's going to be so epic. I'm so excited. Aww, all the Adventureland kids are adults now. XD

[identity profile] thinlizzy2.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Adventureland wedding would be an awesome title for a book.

[identity profile] radiumgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
It would! XD
