Woohoo! I read it and just loved it. That's interesting that Sam is able to understand Dean now. I wonder at the line, A person again, Dean tells him, Sam thinks. Has Sam spoken to Dean? Is he imagining Dean's saying it? Is he interpreting Dean's thoughts? It's just so interesting.
In answer to your question, So...how many more stories telling that exact same story do I really need to write before it all gets a little redundant?, at least a few more. ;-)
The question I think is most unanswered at the moment is where did the kitty come from? You could tell the tale from all sorts of POVs, maybe one we haven't heard from yet, like Bobby's or even the cat's. To use a Sammyism, there is a lot of lore about cats and the supernatural, in just about every culture.
