My Preshus
Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 10:04 pmI'm halfway through the first season of Gilmore Girls. I spend a good bit of time giggling over early 2000s fashion (omg the belly tops) and sometimes I find myself correctly predicting the plot of an episode ten minutes in (Dean and Rory are going to a dance at Chilton! I smell angst and conflict in our future) but for the most part, I'm completely enamored with everyone. Sookie and Luke are possibly my favorites. Rory and Lorelai grew on me, though I still spend alot of their screen time rolling my eyes and muttering, "Morons."
I like Stars Hollow. I see alot of my own town in it (but trust me when I tell you that there is definitely alot of romanticizing going on in the Gilmore Girls portrayal of an itty bitty little rural town) and it kinda makes me less morose about the realization that I went to high school with half the staff of the grocery store in town. Doosey's Market in Stars Hollow bears an uncanny resemblance to my own Mastorocco's Market, right down to the narrow aisles, limited selection, and embroidered aprons on the bagboys.
I discovered though, sadly, I'm (possibly) a minority in this fandom. I'm not concerned because I'm not particularly active in it, nor do I plan to be, and it's not a terribly active place to begin with, but dammit, why all the Dean hate?
Maybe I haven't been "seen the light" yet. Maybe I'm biased because Baby!Padalecki! I just finished watching the episode where they go to Rory's school dance together and I squeed and melted and awwed through pretty much the whole thing. I couldn't help it.

Look at them! They're so precious! How can you not love them?
Am I doing it wrong? I kinda feel like I'm doing it wrong.
